THE STORY OF LIFE (Synopsis) The mysterious unknown 'last song' and spiritual beliefs of Jimi Hendrix
Documentaries, films, endless magazine articles, and several books, have illustrated the extraordinarily influential music journey, and tragically short, twenty-seven years of Jimi Hendrix's life. Of all the things known, and imagined, about this 60's icon, few people are aware that Jimi wrote one last set of lyrics, on the night before he died in London, in the early morning hours of Sept.17, 1970. There are a couple of theories as to how his handwritten lyrics, 'The Story of Life', actually came to be. One version has it that the lyrics were composed by Jimi as a statement of his beliefs, as well as a 'tribute' to his girlfriend Monika Danneman (who he was staying with at the time), and that the day after his death, still in a state of shock, Monika noticed the piece of paper on her coffee table. Recognizing Jimi's handwriting, she picked the piece of paper up for safe keeping, and in doing so, lovingly secured a stunning example of Jimi's spiritual beliefs for the 'future' to observe. Another version has it that Jimi and Monika wrote the lyrics together, on that fateful September night. Whatever the truth, Jimi's handwriting and thoughts are unmistakable.
